About Palm Kernel Oil
Palm kernel oil comes from the kernel inside the palm nut, not the surrounding fruit pulp, and it is chemically a different oil from palm oil altogether. Where palm oil is dominated by palmitic and oleic acid, PKO is roughly half lauric acid, the same short-chain profile that makes coconut oil valuable. That lauric content is what gives soap its lather, surfactants their foaming power and confectionery fats their sharp melt.
iFlowdeck sources kernels from crushing mills across Nigeria's palm belt and supplies both crude and refined PKO. Crude PKO carries a light amber colour and a mild nutty aroma; refined, bleached and deodorised PKO is near-colourless and neutral, which is what cosmetic and food formulators generally specify.
The demand picture is genuinely broad. Soap and detergent manufacturers take PKO for its lauric fraction. Cosmetics and personal care companies use it in creams, lotions, hair products and as a base for derivatives such as cetyl and lauryl alcohol. Confectionery makers use hydrogenated and fractionated PKO as cocoa butter substitutes because its steep melting curve mimics the mouthfeel of chocolate. Pharmaceutical and oleochemical plants split it for fatty acids and glycerine.
